Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 21, 2026

This policy covers the Thumbsy web app (thumbsy.io) and the Thumbsy browser extension (together, “Thumbsy”). It explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and profile picture from Google via Supabase Authentication. We use this to identify your account and personalize the app.

Content you save. Videos and thumbnails you save, the notes and tags you add, the boards you organize them into, and any thumbnails you upload — so we can show them back to you in your library.

Search history. If you use similar-thumbnail search, we store the thumbnails you searched for so you can quickly revisit past searches. You can delete individual entries at any time from the history panel.

Billing information. If you subscribe to Thumbsy Pro, payment is handled directly by Stripe or Whop — we never see or store your card number. We store a customer/subscription reference ID so we know your account is on Pro.

Extension data. The browser extension stores your sign-in session and a few preferences (like export settings) locally in your browser via chrome.storage. It reads video titles, channel names, and thumbnail images directly from the YouTube page you’re viewing to power its on-page features (palette extraction, downloads, bulk export).

How we use this information

To run the product: show your saved library, sync it between the extension and the web app, verify your Pro subscription status, and provide the features you use (palette extraction, similar-thumbnail search, collaboration review links, the feed simulator).

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Third parties we work with

We use a small number of service providers to operate Thumbsy, each only for what’s needed to run the product:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
  • Stripe and Whop — payment processing and subscription management.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Algrow — when you use similar-thumbnail search, the thumbnail image, video URL, or text description you’re searching with is sent to Algrow’s API to find visually similar videos. No account information is included in that request.

We don’t use any third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete saved items, boards, and search-history entries yourself at any time from your library. To delete your entire account and all associated data, email us (below) and we’ll process the request promptly.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is limited to what’s needed to operate and support the service.

Children's privacy

Thumbsy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
